Discovery, Invention, Process
In a world mediated by digital reproductions, direct observation creates a strategy for original research, which in turn can lead to new discoveries. MCAD Foundation drawing courses ask our students to radically question the process, outcomes, and meaning of the act of drawing.

MCAD First Year Drawing: Discovery, Invention, Process presents select student drawings from Minneapolis College of Art and Design 2016-17 drawing courses taught by Michael Banning, Kim Benson, Ed Charbonneau, Preston Drum, John Gaunt, Dennis Lo, Howard Quednau, Michael Kareken, Lynda Monick-Isenberg, Kelli Nelson, and Ziyang Wu.
This exhibition was juried from over 100 drawings submitted by the Foundation Drawing faculty this academic year. Students' work included:
