CSS > Dorm Wireless Network Info
All MCAD dorms now have wireless access to the MCAD network and the internet.
What will you need to use the wireless network?
- 802.11b or 802.11g compatible network card.
- The wireless cards on all Apple laptops work fine.
- If you need help selecting a wireless card for your computer, contact "computer_support@mcad.edu".
- WPA and 802.1x compatible operating system:
- Windows XP
- Mac OS X, 10.4 or newer
- Linux
Do not bring these items with you when you move in:
- 2.4GHz cordless phones. The signal they use is on the same frequency as our wire-less network and will cause problems every time you make or receive a call.
- Wireless router or access point. In addition to taking up radio frequencies needed for the MCAD wireless network, they can provide a way for unauthorized users to access the school's network.
For additional information on using the MCAD wireless network, please see the MCAD Knowledgebase, email computer_support@mcad.edu, or visit the Help Desk in room 321.
For assistance configuring any other type of computer, or If you have any questions about using the MCAD wireless network, send an email to "computer_support@mcad.edu" or call (612) 874-3666.
