Books are located in Stack Rooms 1 and 2 arranged by LC call numbers. They can be searched in MCAD's online catalog by keyword, author's last name, title, or subject. Using one of these search methods will generate a list of titles. Click on the number to the left of the item you wish to view. A detailed record will appear and will indicate where and whether the item is available. If the item is 'Available', write down the call number displayed in blue in the 'Location' field towards the top of the screen. Note any location headings, such as Pamphlet, Special Collection, or Ask At Desk. Check the floor plan for locations, or ask at the Circulation desk.
Periodicals are on display in the main reading room. Back issues of periodicals are bound and shelved by title in the first stack room. Ask at the Circulation Desk for issues not yet bound. Current, unbound, and bound periodicals do not circulate.
Class Reserves are on shelves at the left of the Circulation desk. They are arranged by instructor's name or, in some cases, by college department.
Pamphlets, including exhibition catalogs that are too small to be safely stored in the general book collection, are filed by call number in wooden filing cabinets in the main reading room.
Picture Files are in vertical filing cabinets in the main reading room. The files are arranged alphabetically by subject.
Slides are in the Slide Library. They are arranged by medium, period, and nationality. The Slide Library is open weekdays, 10 AM to 3 PM.
Videotapes DVDs, Compact Discs and CD-ROMs are on shelves in the main reading room. DVD titles may be searched within the online catalog. Please ask for assistance in identifying Video, CD-ROM, and Compact Disc titles.
Phonograph Records are in bins in the main reading room. They are arranged by genre.
Audiocassettes are listed in a notebook at the Circulation desk. Ask the staff person to retrieve them for you.
Artists' Books are stored in archival boxes in the library office area. You can look up artists' books in the notebook at the Circulation desk, and then ask to see individual items.
Annual Reports and College Catalogs are arranged alphabetically in vertical filing cabinets in the main reading room.
