Advisory - Indecent Exposure

Date: July 19, 2017

In the evening of July 18, 2017, an MCAD student was walking along 1st Ave. when an unknown male drove by in a car on 1st Ave. near the MFA Studios, who called out questions to, and followed the student while driving his car. Turning to hear what was being said, the student noticed the male was masturbating while asking his questions. The student turned the other direction and ran away from the area. The description is of a dark-complected black male, late 20's-early 30's, with black hair in dreadlocks pulled back, wearing a dark t-shirt and jeans. He was driving a white 4-door Geo.

Report similar incidents that occur near campus to MCAD Public Safety, and if it's safe to do so, take a photo with your cell phone of the car and/or driver.

Face-to-Face Confrontations: (from MPD website)

When faced with danger, trust yourself. Your single most effective weapon is your own judgment. Rely on it to choose what you think is the best response at the time, whether it is to run, stall, negotiate, verbally assert yourself, scream to attract attention from others, physically resist or comply with demands

There is no right or wrong way to react. Every situation is different. The best response depends on a combination of factors such as the location, the assailant, presence of weapons, your personal responses, etc.

Call MCAD Public Safety at 612.874.3801 for an escort if you feel unsafe.
