A Jury comprised of MCAD Fine Arts Sculpture Faculty members Kate Casanova, Betsy Alwin, and Brad Jirka has selected the work of Jesse Lenz, Joel Terry, and Samantha Russell (all 2nd Year MFA Candidates) as MCAD•s nominees for this years International Sculpture Center's "Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award" competition. This is the premier international competition for student sculptors and can only be entered after nomination by the faculty of a college or university.
While this is a very competitive program, with hundreds of entries from both BFA and MFA applicants, MCAD's Nicholas Carroll (BFA '13) and Jeffrey Thompson (BFA '04) both won an ISC Achievement Award for their sculptural object and installation work as did recent Visiting Furniture Professor Jason Ramey in 2012.
We wish the best to Jesse, Joel and Samantha and thank them for their progressive and exciting work!
