To the MCAD Community,
It is sad to see another school shooting with the lives lost and the trauma that is wrought on fellow students, teachers, family, and friends.
While it may seem unthinkable this kind of unexpected shooting could happen on our campus. Here are some ways to be prepared.
MCAD would like to remind students, staff, and faculty to sign up to receive emergency text and pop-up messages (Mac) and to take time to review the shots fired video on the Public Safety intranet site. Please be advised that the video simulates a real shooter situation.
In a hostile shooter situation or a knife attack situation, remember to
Run from the area of danger,
Hide in place if you can't run, and
Fight if necessary to protect yourself and others
Look for emergency response posters in each classroom that provide an overview of what to do in all types of campus emergencies.
Please contact Steven McLaughlin, Director of Public Safety if you have any questions.

The mass shooting at Parkland, Florida's Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School has all of us wondering how can we stop these shootings from happening time after time and watch our lawmakers do little or nothing.
For those of you who want to try to have an impact, you can write or call your local lawmakers and congressional representatives and let them know what you want them to do to curb violent incidents on schools, campuses and other workplaces and neighborhoods across the country.
If you wish to support the victims and their families the Broward Education Foundation created a GoFundMe page in an effort to helpraise money.
Thoughts of comfort and hope to all affected by this latest school shooting.
