Tips for Accessing Dayforce In Browsers
This article outlines how to bookmark the Dayforce site for easy access in each browser. It also covers a restriction that requires administrative users of Dayforce to access the site in Internet Explorer or Safari only, so if you have an admin role in Dayforce, be sure to scroll to the bottom of the page and read the section on “Dayforce and Silverlight.”
To access Dayforce from your browser, you must begin by visiting the URL dayforce.mcad.edu. Links or bookmarks to any other dayforce URL won’t let you access the site. You can simply type “dayforce.mcad.edu” into the address bar at the top of your browser window, or you can follow the instructions below to create a bookmark to dayforce.mcad.edu.
How to Create a Bookmark for Dayforce
From any web page or a new tab, create a new bookmark by clicking the star on the right end of the address bar or by pressing command (or control on Windows) + D. In the small window that pops up, click the “More” button in the lower left corner. In the “Name” field, type in “Dayforce.” In the URL field, clear the existing text and type in “dayforce.mcad.edu.” Make sure it is set to save into your Bookmarks Bar location, then click the “Save” button. You can find the bookmark in the Bookmarks menu or in the bar across the top of your browser.
In Internet Explorer:
From any web page, click the star to the right of the address bar to open the Favorites menu, then select “Add to favorites.” In the small window that opens, enter “Dayforce” in the Name field and click “Add.” Next, click the star to open the Favorites menu again, then find the Dayforce bookmark, mostly likely inside the “Favorites Bar” folder. Right click on this bookmark and select “Properties.” In the window that opens, type “dayforce.mcad.edu” and click OK.
You can also set Dayforce as the homepage of IE by clicking the gear icon in the upper right corner, selecting “Internet options,” and then typing “dayforce.mcad.edu” in the box below the section marked “Home page” and clicking OK.
From any web page, go to the “Bookmarks” menu and select “Add Bookmark” or press command + D. In the window that pops up, type “Dayforce” in the selected field and click “Add.” Next, open the “Bookmarks” menu again and select “Edit Bookmarks.” Find the “Dayforce” bookmark in the list, right-click on it and select “Edit Address.” Clear this field and type in “dayforce.mcad.edu.” Dayforce should now appear in your Favorites bar.

Next, click the gear icon in the upper left corner and select “New Bookmark.” In the Name field, type in “Dayforce,” and in the Location field type in “dayforce.mcad.edu.” You can now close this window and you should see Dayforce in your bookmarks bar.
Dayforce and Silverlight
Most employees using Dayforce simply as a timesheet should be able to access the site from any browser by visiting dayforce.mcad.edu. However, if you have an administrative role in Dayforce, certain admin sections of the site require the plugin Silverlight to function, including the “My HR” section. If you are an admin and/or receive an error message regarding Silverlight while trying to use Dayforce, you will need to use Internet Explorer or Safari to access Dayforce. Follow the instructions above to bookmark dayforce.mcad.edu in either of these browsers or to set it as your homepage in IE if you don’t use IE for anything else. If you still receive an error message when trying to access admin sections of the site from IE or Safari, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
How to enable Silverlight for Safari on a Mac:
Open Safari and visit https://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default. Select "Click to Install," and if it asks you, select "Use every time." Next, visit dayforce.mcad.edu (still in Safari) and visit the page that was giving you an error about Silverlight (most likely your messages inbox). Now in the top menu bar, open the "Safari" menu, select "Preferences," and select the "Websites" tab. In the column on the left, scroll all the way down and select "Silverlight" from the list of Plug-ins. Change the drop-down menu to the right of "usr54.dayforcehcm.com" to say "On." Now you should be able to load the section of Dayforce that was previously giving you an error message. See screenshot:
