The 3D shop will close for the semester on December 14th at 6:00 p.m. Please make sure you return all tools and remove all projects and materials from all shop spaces. Academic Services will be open regular office hours (8:00 a.m.–4:00p.m. M–F) over winter break, but will be closed Dec 22-Jan 1 for the Holidays. We will reopen on Tuesday, January 2nd.
All students who are graduating in December, studying abroad Spring semester, are reducing to part time status or are withdrawing for Spring semester MUST clean out current studio spaces and locker areas by Monday, December 17th at noon. This includes all lockers, cubbies, and common areas. Please turn in any keys checked out from Academic Services. If you are returning to school full time next semester, you may keep your studio space for the full academic year, and will retain uninterrupted studio access over the winter break. If you are returning next semester you can checkout and renew books over winter break starting Monday, 12/3. So any book with a 4 week loan period checked out or renewed starting Monday, 12/3 will be due the first day of class, January 22, 2019.
The Media Center window will close at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14th.
There are no circulations or studio access after this time until the window reopens at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22nd.
Equipment checkout policies over winter break are as follows:
Degree-seeking students enrolled for spring semester:
- All reservations are by Personal Proposal only. Proposals will be accepted until noon on Thursday, Dec 13th.
- While most proposals will be approved, it's the Media Center's discretion to deny any proposal if the requested items need remain on-hand over break to facilitate necessary maintenance or repairs. We will do our best to work with you to find alternative options if possible.
- Advanced items designated as "Tech Checkout only" are available by proposal for the periods when the Media Center Window is closed but Staff office hours are being held over breaks. These dates are 12/14/18 to 12/21/18 and again from 1/2/19 to 1/18/19. Tech Checkouts for the full duration of winter or summer break will not be approved. All Tech Checkout equipment must be returned to the Media Center before the first day of spring semester.
- Black and Gray Studios (335, 345), analog darkrooms, and 329 Sound Studio, are all closed and not accessible over winter break beginning at 7pm on Dec 14th. They will reopen the first day of classes, 1/22/19.
Faculty contracted for spring classes and Staff:
- All reservations by Personal Proposal only. Priority access to in-demand kits is first given to students. After that, priority will be given to equipment designated for the classes you are scheduled to teach in spring semester. All other requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Main and Morrison Buildings
The Main and Morrison buildings will be locked to the public beginning Friday evening December 21 at 8:00 p.m. and reopen Wednesday morning January 2 at 7:00 a.m. All entrances to academic buildings will remain locked during this time frame.
Any enrolled student, full or part time staff and faculty may enter the south or east doors of Main as long as they present their MCAD to the card access reader, and then swipe again in at the Public Safety desk to 'electronically sign-in'.
The last day that the Printshop and Paper Studios will be open is Friday, December 14 until 9:00 p.m. Please remove all prints and paper, screens, clean out lockers and flat files or they will be cleaned out and recycled or donated. We will be closed from December 15 through January 21, 2019 for routine maintenance, cleaning, etc. There is no student, staff, or faculty access over the Winter Break.
Help Desk and Technology Support (Room 319)
Regular fall semester hours will end at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2018.
The Help Desk will be open Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. on the following dates:

MCAD Login and Email (Students):
Current adjunct faculty that are not scheduled to teach in the spring will have their MCAD login disabled one week before the start of spring session.
Recent Graduates: 21 days after graduation.
MCAD PaperCut Account:
MCAD PaperCut accounts for Fall 2018 grads will be disabled, check in with the service bureau for remaining balance information and print access details.
Remaining PaperCut balances cannot be dispersed and will expire when accounts are deactivated.
Student Storage Directories / Student Web Sites:
studio.mcad.edu network storage and student websites for Fall 2018 grads will be removed 21 days after graduation.
class.mcad.edu folders will be reset. Please make sure to backup any important fall class work. class.mcad.edu spring folder access will be available on January 14th, 2019. Please make sure to backup any important class work before you leave for Winter Break.
Coursework server (faculty only):
Two weeks after the start of Spring Semester 2019 coursework.mcad.edu folders for Fall 2018 will be set to read-only.
