All students who are graduating in December, studying abroad Spring semester, are reducing to part time status or are withdrawing for Spring semester MUST clean out current studio spaces and locker areas by Monday, December 21 at noon. This includes all lockers, cubbies, and common areas. Please turn in any keys checked out from Academic Services. If you are returning to school full time next semester, you may keep your studio space for the full academic year, and will retain uninterrupted studio access over the winter break. This is your regularly scheduled update of important dates regarding the end of the semester and technology resources at MCAD. If you're a student, soon-to-be grad, staff, or faculty member please take the time to read this to find out if anything here will impact you!
The main computer labs (230, 320, 330, and 331) will close for the semester on Friday, December 11, 2020.
Be sure to remove all personal and class files from the lab and library workstations before they close. There is a chance we will be reformatting all hard drives and we don't want you to lose any data!
The computer labs will reopen on Monday, January 25nd, 2020 for Spring semester.
Help Desk and Technology Support (rm 319):
Regular fall semester hours will end at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2020.
The Help Desk will be open remotely Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. on the following dates:

Regular spring semester hours will resume on Monday, January 25, 2021 from 9:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. Monday–Thursday and 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Fridays.
MCAD Login and Email (Students):
MCAD Login (servers and labs) for returning students will remain active over the break.
MCAD Login (servers and labs) for Fall 2020 grads will be disabled 21 days from their date of graduation.
MCAD email accounts for Fall 2020 grads will remain active for one year after their date of graduation.
Extended access to personal storage directories, Adobe Creative Cloud, and student websites for Spring 2020 grads will be removed on December 20, 2020. MCAD email accounts for these user will remain active until December of 2021
MCAD Login, Email, and Equipment (Faculty):
Be sure to remove or backup all personal and class files from shared faculty workstations before you leave for winter break.
Adjunct faculty using school-owned loaner laptops not teaching classes in the spring semester will need to return them to the Help Desk (rm 319) by noon on Wednesday, December 16, 2020. The Help Desk will follow up with adjuncts directly to arrange distanced equipment drop–offs or renew laptop agreements with adjuncts who are keeping equipment to teach in the spring.
Current adjunct faculty that are teaching in the degree program during the Spring session will continue to have uninterrupted access to their MCAD login.
Current adjunct faculty that are NOT scheduled to teach in the Spring will have most services associated with their MCAD login disabled 21 days after the end of the current semester.
All adjunct @mcad.edu Gmail accounts will remain active for one year after their most recent contract end date.
MCAD PaperCut Account (Students & Faculty):
MCAD PaperCut accounts for all Fall students who are returning in the Spring will have continued access to their accounts and balances in the upcoming semester.
MCAD PaperCut accounts for Fall 2020 grads will be disabled 21 days from the date of graduation.
MCAD PaperCut accounts for adjunct faculty NOT teaching in the spring will be disabled 21 days after the end of the semester.
Remaining PaperCut balances cannot be disbursed and will expire when accounts are deactivated. Please contact email@example.com if you have any questions or concerns.

Main and Morrison Buildings
The Main and Morrison buildings will continue to be locked to the public until further notice.
December 23–January 4, 2021: Any enrolled student, full or part time staff and faculty may enter the North, South or East doors of Main as long as they present their MCAD to the card access reader, and then swipe again in at the Public Safety desk to 'electronically sign-in'.
The Media Center window will close at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 11.
There are no circulations or studio access after this time until the window reopens at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21.
Equipment checkout policies over winter break are as follows:
Degree-seeking students enrolled for spring semester:
- All reservations are by Personal Proposal only. Proposals will be accepted until noon on Thursday, December 10.
- While most proposals will be approved, it's at the Media Center's discretion to deny any proposal if the requested items need to remain on-hand over break for necessary maintenance or repairs. We will do our best to work with you to find alternative options if possible.
- Advanced items designated as "Tech Checkout only" are available by proposal for the periods when the Media Center Window is closed but staff office hours are being held over breaks. These dates are 12/16/19 to 12/20/19 and again from 1/2/20 to 1/17/20 from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Tech Checkouts for the full duration of winter or summer break will not be approved. All equipment must be returned to the Media Center before the first day of spring semester.
- Black and Gray Studios (335, 345), analog darkrooms, and 329 Sound Studio, are all closed and not accessible over winter break beginning at 7:00 p.m. on December 11. They will reopen the first day of classes, 1/21/20.
Faculty contracted for spring classes and Staff:
- All reservations by Personal Proposal only. Priority access to in-demand kits is first given to students. After that, priority will be given to equipment designated for the classes you are scheduled to teach in the spring semester. All other requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
No over-break access allowed:
Non-Student T.A.s, Fellows, Continuing Education students and faculty
The Library will be closed to in-person access except to faculty by appointment for class preparation.

Returning students can checkout and renew books over winter break. Due dates for 4 week items will be 2/1/2021.
Books can be returned to the book drop in the wall next to the library doors.
When winter break begins, we will also place a temporary return cart between the doors of the main Gallery entrance. If your keycard doesn’t work use the buzzer to have the doors opened for you to enter.
Printshop and Paper Studios
A reminder from the Printshop & Papermaking Studio about Fall 2020, End of the Semester Clean out:
- Students are encouraged to clean out their lockers and flat files, and pick up their screens, before Friday, December 11 at 6:00 p.m. Students should contact firstname.lastname@example.org to make an appointment to pick up their items.
- If students are already gone/out of town for the break, please email us or call to make arrangements to clean out your files/lockers upon return.
- Students enrolled in Spring 2021 classes, contact us and we will put a spring tag and tape on your locker and flat file and we will save the contents.
- The Printshop and Paper Studio will be closed for winter break with no access after December 11 until the start of spring semester.
- If we are not contacted before spring 2021 semester classes begin, any contents in lockers or flat files that are not picked up, the contents will be recycled.
