The August 1st deadline is fast approaching and if you still haven't paid your tuition, you should be finalizing your loans, transferring funds, submitting health insurance waivers (online learning programs are exempt), or otherwise, be ready to click, 'Pay' on or before August 1st ().
Here is some helpful information for beating the $250 late payment charge.
First and foremost, if you are concerned about not having your loan approved, receiving an outside scholarship check, transferring funds to the right account, activating your health insurance, or whatever last minute hurdle you may be experiencing, the fastest way to beat the late fee is to enroll in the fall 2018 MAXPlan. The enrollment link is available on MAXPay's main page.
What you need to know:
* The cost to enroll is $30.
* While the enrollment fee is non-refundable, if your loan is approved or an alternative funding source is finalized, we will refund any credit balance as a result of overpayment.
* Payment plans are automatically adjusted when additional funds are applied to your account.
* Waiting to enroll in the MAXPlan until after the August 1st deadline can be costly. Not only will you have to incorporate the $250 late payment charge, but the payment plan reverts to a 4-month payment plan, which means your monthly payments will be much higher.
If you are an undergraduate, or are enrolled in the Masters of Fine Arts or Graphic Design Post-Baccalaureate certificate program, and you have your own health insurance, waive the MCAD sponsored insurance plan before on August 1st!
Parents can waive the insurance, too. First time visitors will need to create their own login account. Have your student ID available when submitting your online insurance waiver.
This will save you $2,382 in semester charges!
If you wait until after August 1st, you will need to petition to waive the MCAD insurance. There is a requisite, $75 administrative charge for all waivers processed after August 1, 2018. No late waiver petitions will be accepted after .
If you are still unsure how you're going to fund your Fall semester, work with the Financial Aid office to verify that you have submitted all of your required financial aid documentation to maximize your award or determine which loan options are appropriate for you.
Most students who apply for loans will require a strong cosigner and these types of loans take time to process. Some loans are approved faster than others. Be sure to ask your Financial Aid representative which loan is right for you, given the short amount of time remaining to certify them.
Why is it important to pay on or before the deadline?
Students who do not pay by the tuition deadline will be granted one week (August 8, 2018) to pay their tuition, including the late payment charge, to avoid cancellation of their fall enrollment. Students may petition to be reinstated and are subject to a $250 reinstatement fee (in lieu of the late payment charge), and must pay their tuition in full or have a certified loan in place prior to approval.
