COVID Updates

Dear MCAD Staff, Faculty, and Students,

Our community’s health and wellness continues to be a top priority for all of us. While we are seeing an uptick in the spread of new COVID-19 variants in Minnesota, overall cases and their seriousness are still extremely low due to a combination of factors–a highly vaccinated population, increased immunity after infections, access to effective treatments, and heightened awareness of how to use protective measures in our daily lives.

Updated Policies

To be extra cautious and clear, we have adjusted our MCAD’s COVID-19 policies accordingly. MCAD will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation carefully and adjust these measures as needed. Some the high-level guidance is as follows:

  • Follow the updated CDC guidelines
  • Masks are highly encouraged if you are not feeling well or are immune-compromised. We will always respect any individual who chooses to wear a mask at any time.
  • Vaccinations for flu and COVID-19 are highly recommended. Stay up to date on boosters.
  • If you were exposed to COVID-19 or have been told that you were exposed, regardless of your vaccination status, you should take the following steps:
  • Wear a high-quality (e.g. N95) mask for 10 days.
  • Maintain as much distance between you and others just as you would if you had the flu.
  • Clean common surfaces with disinfectant.
  • If symptoms develop, get tested immediately. Test again in 5 days.
  • If you ever test positive, please let your supervisor or faculty know and fill out this form.

Vaccination Clinics

There is a new COVID-19 booster in the works that will be available soon, although there is no definitive date as of yet. It is formulated to be highly effective against the currently circulating strains of COVID-19.

In the meantime, we are asking you to take advantage of our upcoming flu clinics. You can sign up now for these clinics:

  • September 11, 9:45 a.m.–noon
  • September 12, 3:15 p.m.- 6:15 p.m
  • Clinic Address: 2501 Stevens Avenue, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55404
  • Participants need to bring their insurance card.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to stafysafe@mcad.edu as we will do our best to provide any necessary support and assistance during this time. Thank you for your commitment to community safety, cooperation, and understanding.
