Crime Alert

Crime Alert: 9/15/2022

Crime Alerts are posted in an effort to make the MCAD Community aware of any situation that poses a potential threat to the safety and well-being of those who live, work, study and visit the campus. By keeping you aware of crimes occurring in your community Campus Safety hopes to encourage you to become actively involved in crime prevention. Personal safety practices and knowledge are your best defense against crime. This is intended to promote safety on campus and comply, in part, with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1990.

Reported Offense – Attempted Kidnapping/ Attempted Strong Arm Robbery - Off Campus

Campus Safety was contacted by MIA security that they had received a report of an attempted robbery or kidnapping on their property. At about 6:00 p.m. a visiting non-MCAD student was reportedly approached by a person in a blue or teal truck asking for help. As the visiting student was walking up to the truck, the driver grabbed the student and pulled them towards the open passenger window. The visiting student was able to escape the situation and went inside MIA. Camera footage of the incident is currently being reviewed by MIA security.

This is an active and ongoing investigation, however, there is no known threat to the MCAD Community.
