Dear Disability & Design Attendees,
Thank you to everyone who was able to join us last night for MCAD's Presidential Lecture Series on Disability & Design -- an incredibly inspiring conversation with Alex Haagaard, Josh Halstead, and Liz Jackson. It was the first of an ongoing dialogue we plan to host on vital issues surrounding design pedagogy, ableism, and community engagement.
I would like to apologize for the technology challenges including the "Zoom Bombing" that occurred-the first of its kind at MCAD after more than a year of virtual discussions. Kudos to my guests for keeping a level head throughout all of this, and the MCAD team-in particular Seth Dahlseid for quickly rising to the occasion and showing exemplary problem-solving skills to get us back on track.
For those of you who were not able to attend last night, were not able to re-enter the room, or would like to revisit the topics that were discussed, I am pleased to share a recording of the conversation here: https://mcad.edu/disability-and-design
Again, I would like to thank our guests and I encourage you to follow them on Twitter: @elizejackson, @dis_aspora, @alexhaagaard.
Thank you as well to the Target Corporation for their ongoing support of these critical conversations that pave the way for a more equitable future.
All my best to you,
