Exhibitions and Studio Services News

Dear MCAD Community,

The Gallery and Exhibition and Studio Services are pleased to announce that Alicia Kuri Alamillo will be joining MCAD on Wednesday, September 14 as the new Exhibitions and Studio Services Manager.

Born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico, Alicia is an educator, designer and experienced project manager. She most recently served as Brand Associate at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, fulfilling a hybrid role as project manager and production designer for the Design and Editorial Department. In this capacity, she oversaw the end-to-end management of all curatorial, learning, engagement, marketing, and visitor experience projects produced by Mia’s team of brand narrators and designers.

Before her time at Mia, Alicia taught Spanish and Art to students in kindergarten through 12th grade, most recently at nearby City of Lakes Waldorf School. A committed advocate for equity, belonging, and accessibility in education, she led collaborative efforts with administrators, staff, and fellow educators to bring diversity to school governance, as well as develop materials and resources to support a student-centered, inclusive, and culturally responsive language and arts curriculum.

Prior to teaching, Alicia served as a Brand Strategist at VSA Partners in Chicago, and Managing Editor of human-rights photojournalism non-profit PixelPress. She holds a BFA from New York University, majoring in Photography and Anthropology, a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Visual Communications from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and an MFA in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois Chicago.

Alicia thrives on community-building, collaboration, and fostering strong relationships with her coworkers.

Please join me in welcoming Alicia to MCAD.
