Housing Need to Know

Dear MCAD Housing Residents,

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, MCAD requests that campus residents move out of the MCAD apartment buildings by April 1. Students with extenuating circumstances may petition to remain on campus. We are developing a plan for issuing a prorated housing refund from April 1, 2020 until the end of the spring semester. Students who have not enrolled in direct deposit through MAXPay will be required to do so in order to receive a refund. (See below for enrollment instructions.)

The following information will assist you in making plans for your departure.

Notify MCAD of Your Move-Out Date

Once you have a plan for vacating, please complete the MCAD Housing Move Out Form.

Communicate With Your Roommates

To protect health via social distancing, we must limit interactions on campus. Residents should communicate with roommates soon to coordinate returning to campus and moving out at separate times.

Revised Guest Policy

Effective immediately, non-resident guests will no longer be allowed in the apartments except to provide assistance during move out.

Remove All Your Belongings at Move Out

Campus residents may not leave any personal belongings in the apartments. Some summer storage is available on a sign-up basis, but is limited and cannot accommodate most residents (See below for more information).

Before Your Departure

  • Take all trash, compost and recycling to the dumpsters
  • Get your mail out of the mailbox in the building foyer
  • Remove all food from the premises
  • Ensure that all windows are tightly closed and latched
  • Set your thermostat for 65 degrees
  • Lock the apartment door
  • Turn in key (see below)

Check-Out Procedure

Move out all your belongings. Do not leave any items, food, or trash behind. You do not need to clean the apartment, but are expected to have all items removed. Fill out an envelope found in the foyer of your apartment building with your name and building/apartment number. Put your apartment and mailbox keys in the envelope. Seal the self-stick envelope and drop in the box at the Public Safety window in the Main Gallery.

Mail

Notify friends, family, and post office of your new mailing address which can be done online using the Official USPS Change-of-Address. Because mail cannot be forwarded to you by MCAD, be sure to redirect any mail and packages you expect to the address where you will be staying.

Requesting Summer Storage Space

MCAD has a limited amount of storage space available at no charge and is restricted to current residents who have an out-of-town permanent address. Availability is first-come-first-served. These spaces are small (approximately 3 feet wide x 5 feet deep x 8 feet high) and must be shared by two people. The space will not accommodate furniture. To request a storage space, email housing@mcad.edu

If You Need to Stay On Campus, You Must Petition for Approval by March 21

For purposes of safety, security, and limited staff, access to the MCAD apartments after April 1 will be available only to residents who have been approved to stay. Requests to remain in the apartment after April 1 should be submitted through the MCAD Housing Move Out Form. Due to health and safety concerns, students who are approved to remain on campus may need to move to a different apartment.

To sign up for Direct Deposit via MAXPay:

  1. Login to your myMCAD Student Dashboard using your official MCAD username and password and click, 'Launch MAXPay.'
  2. From the main page, locate the box labeled, 'Sign up for direct deposit refunds!' and click 'Sign up'.
  3. From the sidebar menu, agree to the 'Terms and Conditions' by clicking, 'I agree'. Click 'Continue'.
  4. Select, 'New bank account information' or choose an existing stored bank account from the dropdown menu.
