Introducing Institutionally Recognized Name and Pronoun Forms on myMCAD!

Hello everyone,

We are pleased to announce the launch of new forms on myMCAD that all current students may use to list an institutionally recognized name and/or institutionally recognized pronouns on their record.

The Institutionally Recognized Name and Institutionally Recognized Pronoun forms are two separate forms. Log into myMCAD at my.mcad.edu, go to the Records Office tab, and find the forms under the Online Forms heading.

Knowledge Base articles explaining each form are here, and are also linked on the forms themselves:

Institutionally recognized names include any name which is not your legal name, which you would like to be used for you on campus. (Please note that Records will reject any submission which is offensive, inappropriate, or otherwise constitutes a bad-faith use of the form.)

You will have the option to tell us whether or not your institutionally recognized name should be visible on myMCAD to anyone to whom you have granted FERPA permissions.

On the Institutionally Recognized Pronouns form, the available pronoun options are currently she/her/hers, he/him/his, they/them/their, and ask me in person. The form will allow you to select one or multiple sets of pronouns.

Institutionally recognized names and pronouns will appear on the customized rosters that faculty can view on myMCAD. Your faculty will still request institutionally recognized names and pronouns in class each semester. Please note that legal names will continue to be used where necessary for official MCAD purposes and communications.

You may submit both of these forms at any time, and also make changes to your selections at any time as you need to. When the forms are submitted, they will be reviewed and processed during business hours.

If you wish to make changes to your legal name and/or identity information, do not use these forms, but instead see Records for further instructions and document requirements.

If you have any other questions regarding these forms, please see Records.

Thank you!
