Greetings! I am very pleased to announce the 2024 Fine Arts Department Merit Scholarship Award recipients. Thank you to all the students who participated for your hard work and dedication. Thank you to all of the Fine Arts Faculty for your support of our amazing students. Thank you to all the staff at MCAD for all you do! Much gratitude to the alumni and community members who make these awards possible.

Much gratitude to the alumni and community members who make these awards possible.

Effective December 2025, MCAD will no longer hold a commencement ceremony in December for students who complete their coursework in the previous summer or fall. Instead, we will celebrate all undergraduate and MFA students together during the May ceremony and all MA students in a ceremony in August. Undergraduate full-time and visiting faculty will continue to be required to attend the May ceremony.

Undergraduate students who complete their degree in the summer or fall semester will continue to have a senior show in December and will be invited to walk in the May ceremony.

The MCAD Kart Club has made a survey to determine if there is a need for a food pantry at MCAD. The purpose of the food pantry would be to address any hunger and food insecurity that may exist among the campus population. Your participation is very important – the results of this survey will help determine our plan going forward. This survey is completely voluntary and anonymous and should only take a couple minutes to complete.

Please join me in congratulating Malini Basu on being the 2024 recipient of the MCBA Collegiate Fellowship. This opportunity includes a $1000 stipend, an eight week summer studio residency at Minnesota Center for Book Arts, tuition for one MCBA class up to $300, amongst other benefits.
