Dear MCAD Community,
Throughout this unprecedented time of great uncertainty, MCAD has strived to put the health and wellbeing of our students, staff, and faculty above all else. Therefore we have made the decision to move all of our instruction online through the rest of the academic year. This is a process that will occur over the next two weeks. Through the work of our phenomenal staff we will be keeping a minimal presence on our physical campus and performing most of our operations remotely. MCAD's Emergency Response Team is continually monitoring COVID-19 updates and recommendations and will make adjustments to the plan as needed.
We are committed to providing the best possible education and mentorship to our students supported by our gifted faculty and staff in the months ahead. We are also committed to our employees and will continue to support our students. While we are facing a deeply disturbing crisis, we are committed to caring for all of us.
What this means:
Student Affairs will send out an email shortly detailing the next steps in this process and has posted this information here: Student Need-to-Know 2020 Updates. In addition, Academic Affairs will email faculty to detail next steps, which can also be found here: Faculty Need-to-Know 2020 Updates.
Faculty and staff are being moved to a primarily remote work schedule with essential services still being staffed but under social distancing guidelines. Employees will receive a separate email tomorrow from HR with further instructions on time tracking.
There will be limited or no access to certain college facilities as of now, including but not limited to shops, labs, and the library. Students will have access to MCAD academic buildings only to pick up items from their studios by the end of the day March 30. There will be no access to the MCAD academic buildings for students and faculty starting March 31 except by authorized personnel.
Students without extenuating circumstances are being asked to vacate their residence by the end of the day on April 1. Housing will send out an email with specific details and has posted this information on our website: Housing Need-to-Know 2020 Updates
The links provided give greater detail to how all of this will occur. However there are many details still being worked on and I ask for your patience during this time.
I have a fundamental belief in the resiliency of our MCAD community. I, along with the rest of the MCAD leadership team, will continue to make this transition as smooth as possible.
