Message to the MCAD Community from President Sethi

Dear MCAD Faculty, Students, and Staff,

As we embark on the new academic year and I start my sixth year as President of MCAD, I want to share some important news with you. After five transformative years, the Board of Trustees and I have come to an understanding that our vision for the future of the college has evolved and diverged. Consequently the 2024/25 academic year will be my final year at MCAD.

I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to work with all of you and to serve this remarkable institution. I will be working closely with the MCAD Board, college leadership, and broader MCAD community to ensure a smooth transition.

Reflecting on my tenure, I am immensely proud of our collective vision for MCAD and what we have accomplished together. Our response to the COVID-19 pandemic was swift, thoughtful, and effective, ensuring the safety and continuity of our academic programs. The development of the Campus Master Plan and Adaptive Strategic Plan has laid a strong foundation for the future. The acquisition of additional student housing at The Hive has provided much-needed space for our growing student body. Our beloved community events have continued to showcase the incredible talent within MCAD. The creation and reimagination of several undergraduate and graduate programs have expanded the opportunities available to our students. And MCAD’s enrollment and retention continues to grow at remarkable rates with the help of additional student support, a new website and brand identity.

MCAD is an extraordinary place, and its strength lies in the creativity and optimism of its students, staff, faculty, and alumni. This college is bigger than any of us individually, and I am confident that it will continue to thrive in the years to come. I look forward to seeing the continued success of MCAD and am committed to supporting our community during this transition.

All my best,

Sanjit Sethi
