ABOUT THE LEARNING CENTER

The Minneapolis College of Art and Design’s Learning Center is an interdisciplinary academic support center that includes undeclared major academic advising, success coaching, tutoring, the Peer Mentor Program, and Accessibility Services for students with disabilities.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Notetakers are students who take legible or typed-up notes during their classes to help other students. A notetaker is paid for their time spent in class taking notes, and up to 30 minutes outside of class spent scanning or typing their notes. The amount of time one takes notes can vary by class, lecture and content of the day.

  • For studio classes, this can be 30 minutes or more per class.
  • For Liberal Arts classes, this can be up to three hours per class.

All notetaking jobs are casual labor. This means you do NOT need work-study to be a notetaker.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate MCAD student (exchange students not eligible)
  • Maintain a C/2.0 or higher grade point average
  • Ability to take legible, useful typed or handwritten notes
  • Ability to scan or submit notes digitally into the Accommodations system
  • After hire, ability to complete the National Deaf Center's Online Notetaker Training (the training is free and you will be compensated for the time it takes you to take the training)

COMPENSATION

HOURLY RATE:  $15.00
