Dear MCAD Students,
Welcome. I hope you and your loved ones are healthy and safe while doing your best to enjoy the summer. It’s hard to believe that summer break is coming to an end and new student orientation begins in less than two weeks. That said, I am eager to welcome you back on the MCAD campus and celebrate the creativity that is the bedrock of our wonderful community.
MCAD’s top priority is to provide a safe and healthy environment for all members of our community. Our goal is to enable everyone to learn, work, and live in the safest way possible. There are a few important updates that you need to know and forms you must complete before returning to campus this fall. All of us play a vital role in keeping the college open and running.
I need each and every student to be vigilant and committed to ensuring that our campus is safe this Fall 2020 semester. Among the safety protocols that are detailed in the online training and pledge, there are three I want to emphasize:
Facemasks: Anyone who is in any of the public areas of MCAD will be required to wear a facemask. No exceptions. This is one of the most important ways we can keep our college safe for everyone.
Physical Distancing: While I appreciate the desire to return to our shops and labs from the 3D shops to the Service Bureau, we must maintain a minimum of six feet of physical distance in our shared spaces. Any crowding in these areas could require us to shut down these facilities or curtail access until proper distancing can be maintained.
Exposure Containment: If you are feeling unwell with COVID-like symptoms or know you have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19, you must stay home, contact your physician for next steps, and inform Student Affairs for next steps.
As part of MCAD’s COVID-19 Preparedness Plan, please complete the following steps before returning to campus:

General Campus Hours and Access
Beginning August 17, MCAD will observe 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. virtual hours for support offices which can be reached via email, telephone, Google Chat, etc. For necessary in-person appointments, support offices will be available between 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Our campus is closed to the public and only card access allows you to enter the buildings. Masks are required with six feet of physical distancing.
This pandemic has required all of us to exist in uncharted territory and in doing so hopefully find a new inner strength and untapped resiliency. Please email any questions or concerns to firstname.lastname@example.org. I am looking forward to seeing you soon.
All my best to you,
