Welcome Gonzalo Reyes Rodriguez

Hello MCAD Community,

The MFA Program is pleased to announce that Gonzalo Reyes Rodriguez will be joining us as visiting faculty for fall 2020.

Gonzalo Reyes Rodriguez works with photography and video to examine the slippage of time in the act of image creation and the shifting relationships between individuals and institutions. His work often concerns the current socio-political context of the Americas along with the concepts of hegemony, colonial amnesia and cultural representation.

His most recent work has been presented in exhibitions at the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Kansas City; Galeria Gabriela Mistral, Santiago; North Miami Museum of Contemporary Art; Miami, and Bemis Center for Contemporary Art, Omaha, and solo exhibitions at La Postal, Mexico City and the Windor Contemporaneo, Madrid.

He has participated in residencies at the Program for Advanced Studies in Critical Practices at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia and the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture. His work has been featured in hyperallergic, Terremoto MX, Daily Lazy, Public Parking, and Contemporary Art Daily.

He has studied at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, received a B.F.A from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and an M.F.A from the University of Pennsylvania.
