Your Fall 2021 Tuition Information is Now Available

Dear Students,

Below is a complete guide to accessing, understanding and updating your tuition balance information. Please read the following information and instructions carefully and complete the steps before the August 1, 2021 tuition deadline.

Student balance information reflects all certified financial aid, health insurance waivers (excluding online programs), housing charges (if applicable) and tuition charges as of today's date.

Step 1 - Students, Login to MAXPay to View Your Tuition Balance

To meet the needs of our students and families, we offer several secure online payment options during checkout including:

  • Credit Card: We accept all major credit cards and charge a non-refundable 2.75% transaction fee for each credit card payment.
  • eCheck: A free and convenient option allowing electronic payments from your checking or savings account.
  • Payment Plans: A payment plan gives you more time to pay with smaller payments, helping you manage your budget and minimize student debt. See Step 7 below.
  • 529/College Savings Plan: Electronic payment from your college savings account. Quick receipt of payment and real-time validation of account posting
  • International Payments: Use your international bank account or credit card to schedule a wire transfer using Flywire.

Students: Login to your myMCAD Student Dashboard and click, 'Launch MAXPay' to view your current tuition balance.Authorized parents or 3rd party payers, skip to Step 3.

Step 2 - If you have not already done so, please invite parents, third party payers, to access your student account in advance of the August 1, 2021 tuition deadline.

Parent account access will be processed within 1-3 business days from the original request date. Do not delay completing th is step.

Activation requests are processed by the MCAD Records Office, M-F during normal business hours.

Complete the FERPA Form from your myMCAD Student Dashboard. Carefully enter parent/3rd party email addresses and select the information you would like to share. NOTE: Be sure to grant access to view Financial Information if they will be paying your tuition.

Step 3 - Parents, Login to your myMCAD Parent Dashboard

Students, skip to Step 4.

Parents who have activated their personal accounts must login to the parent myMCAD dashboard and click your student's name located beneath their photo ID to view your navigation options. Click, 'Launch MAX - View and Pay Tuition' under, 'Tools and Information'.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO PARENTS: If you are receiving this email but you have not yet received account activation instructions from the MCAD Records Office, please contact records@mcad.edu. Check your spam folder for filtered communications from records@mcad.edu and add the email address to your 'contacts' list.

Step 4 - Check your Balance & Review Your Charges and Credits Carefully

From MAXPay, students and parents can view detailed account information including fall semester tuition and fees, completed financial aid, and received payments for the fall semester by clicking 'Activity Details' from the menu of options.

Ensure all tuition and housing charges, financial aid, health insurance waivers, et c. are accurately reflected in your accou nt balance before submitting your payment or enrolling in the payment plan (see below).

Step 5 - Waive the Annual Health Insurance

Who? Only students enrolled in campus-based degree programs will be billed for health insurance.

What? Students enrolled in the undergraduate and MFA degree programs are charged annually for school sponsored health insurance and must complete an online waiver form each year if they have private health insurance and wish to opt out of purchasing the 2021-22 MCAD health insurance plan.

When? The Insurance Waiver must be submitted ANNUALLY. If you have your own insurance coverage, you must complete the online waiver form each fall regardless of whether you have completed a waiver form in a prior year.

And? Students enrolled in online-only programs are not eligible to purchase MCAD sponsored health insurance and do not need to submit an insurance waiver.

Step 6 - Review Financial Aid and Complete All Necessary Steps to Receive Your Full Award

For many students this is the most important and often, most overlooked step.

Before you begin, did you remember to complete your 2021-22 FAFSA? If you recently submitted your FAFSA, you can check the status and review 'Next Steps' here.

If you completed your 2021-22 FAFSA, received a financial aid award letter from MCAD's Financial Aid Office and are expecting financial aid that is not reflected in your student account balance, please take a moment to make sure you have:

  1. Accepted your award and...
  2. Submitted all required documents and completed all necessary steps to ensure your financial aid is ready to disburse on September 2, 2021.

Examples of incomplete or overlooked financial aid steps include: non-completion of th e Federal Direct Loan Entrance Counseling, unsigned Master Promissory Note(s), non-completion of a 2021-22 Federal Parent Plus Loan application or unsigned Master Promissory Note, 'Thank You' notes for certain institutional/merit based scholarships not received.

Check your MCAD email for important, time sensitive communications from the Financial Aid Office for more information on these important action items.

Parents with access may view their student's financial aid status from the 'Tools and Information' menu, located on the Student Info page of their myMCAD Parent Dashboard.

Step 7 - Need More Time to Pay? Consider enrolling in the Fall 2021 MAXPlan

If you would like to enroll in the fall 2021 payment plan (aka MAXPlan) click, 'View Payment Plan Options' from the main page to begin.

The administrative cost to enroll is $30 per semester and will be included with your first monthly installment which is due at the time of enrollment in the fall MAXPlan. Your final tuition balance will be divided into five, equal monthly installments which will be calculated upon enrollment in the MAXPlan.

The August 1st installment plus the $30 administrative fee is due on or before August 1, 2021 and must be paid when you enroll in the MAXPlan. Subsequent installments will be due on the first of each month, through December 1, 2021.

The Sooner, the Better: By activating your MAXPlan and submitting your first monthly installment before 8/1/2021, the next installment will not be due until 9/1/2021. By enrolling early you can pay down future monthly installments throughout the summer so you'll be paid in advance!

Don't delay: Students may still enroll in the MAXPlan after the August 1, 2021 tuition deadline. However, the mandatory $250 late tuition payment charge will be added to the total tuition balance and the MAXPlan will revert to four monthly installments. Thus, the monthly payment amount will be significantly higher for students who enroll after August 1.
