MCAD Safety Bulletin - Vehicle Break-In, 9/13/24

On 09/13/24 at 3:44 a.m., Campus Safety observed an individual on camera enter the Hive parking lot on foot and gain access to a vehicle in the lot.  At this time it is unknown if the vehicle was unlocked, or the vehicle is broken into, or if anything was stolen.  A Campus Safety officer responded to the scene immediately and the alleged suspect fled the scene moving south on Stevens Ave.  A description of the individual was shared with the Minneapolis Police Department.  The incident is still under investigation by Campus Safety.

The alleged suspect is described as a dark-skinned male, with a slight build, approximately 6’ tall, and early 20’s in age.  At the time of the incident, the individual was wearing a white bucket hat, a black and white jacket, black shorts, black socks and dark colored shoes.

PARKING SAFETY TIPS:

  • Be aware of your surroundings. Look under, around and in the backseat of your vehicle as you approach it.
  • Lock all doors and close all windows tightly.
  • Do not leave valuable items in the vehicle, especially in plain sight.
  • Park in well-lit areas.
  • Do not leave your vehicle on city streets in one spot for several days without checking on it.
  • Drive slowly through the parking lot and side streets, and watch for children!
  • If possible, walk in groups or call Campus Safety at 612-874-3801 for an escort
  • Report any suspicious or dangerous activity immediately to MCAD Campus Safety or MPD
