Mail is delivered by the United States Postal Service on weekdays between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and it is generally ready pick up by 1:00 PM. The Mailroom also accepts incoming shipments from UPS, FedEx, DHL and other courier services. These deliveries are made throughout the day and may not be attended to upon arrival.
Letters and small packages will be sorted into the recipients' mailbox as space allows. Larger items will be set aside for pick up and clearly marked with the recipient's name and date of arrival clearly labeled. A notification will be sent via email or a package alert form on the mailbox. If you are expecting any time-sensitive items, please be sure to contact the Mailroom so that arrangements can be made to expedite the receipt of those items.
Students are expected to direct personal mail to their personal housing. If they have specific concerns about any items that they are expecting, they can contact the Mailroom to discuss any special arrangements.
Incoming mail that is not picked up from the Mailroom within 14 days may be returned to the sender.
The USPS postal carrier picks up outgoing mail daily at 11:00 AM. All mail received after that time will be processed and set for the following day. MCAD uses UPS as its alternative outgoing shipping option.
Outgoing department mailings should be clearly marked with the department codes. Letters should be coded on the back of the envelopes and packages must be accompanied with an Outgoing Mail Request Form. Outgoing international items should be clearly marked as well as accompanied with the necessary information to complete required customs forms. These requirements can be found on usps.gov.
The MCAD Mailroom has a limited capacity to provide personal outgoing mail and package services to students, staff and faculty members. Payments of these services must be received at the time of the mailings. The Mailroom will only accept payments in the form of credit/debit cards or checks. The Mailroom will NOT accept cash payments.
The Mailroom should be notified in advance for all large and/or special mailing requests. This includes bulk letter mailings of 50 or more items, 5 packages/parcels or more as well as specialized mailing needs such as certified letters.
Senders are expected to leave contact information so that the Mailroom is able to address any questions that may arise. This could include billing discrepancies, address concerns, etc.
The Mailroom is not responsible for outgoing items after they have been picked up by the appropriate carriers. Both of our carriers have tracking options available.
The Mailroom does not sell individual postage stamps or packaging materials. These items are available for purchase at the Art Cellar.
The Mailroom does have a limited supply of pre-set packaging materials for use. Please contact the Mailroom for more details on what the pre-set packaging entails.
Departments that are requesting large bulk mailing projects through DesignWorks should also contact the Accounting Manager with the expected postage expense. The bulk mailing account is a pre-paid cash account held at the United States Postal Service to cover the costs of these bulk mailings. These notifications are required to ensure that there is proper funding in this account. This service is ONLY available for MCAD business purposes.
The Mailroom is not held responsible for items left in the Mailroom outside of the scheduled staff times.
The Mailroom reserves the right to refuse any service requests based on size and detail of request as well as the capacity of service available at that time.
