Whether you are concerned about COVID-19 symptoms, or concerned about another unrelated health concern, or just need to talk to someone about your mental and emotional health and well-being, using virtual care (aka telehealth/telemedicine) during the COVID-19 outbreak may be the preferred method to seek care. AND this type of virtual visit can often lower your health care costs in general compared to the cost of in office care.
If you have never tried virtual care, and you have a health concern, consider giving it a try. They are fast, convenient, and can usually provide you the care you need quickly and without an office visit. Depending on the resource and the condition, your visit may be a virtual assessment where you type in your symptoms and/or answer a questionnaire for common conditions. Or it might be a video or phone visit with a care provider. If you need to visit a physical clinic, they can advise you of that as well.
Whether you are enrolled in one of the MCAD HealthPartners plans, or another plan, the following resources may be a help to you. To check your access or coverage, you can call the Member Services number on the back of your health insurance member card. For those in the MCAD HealthPartners plan, that number is 952-883-5000. If not a HealthPartners member, call your insurance provider to see if they also provide access to these resources or if they provide similar alternatives.
VIRTUWELL: Virtuwell, which is part of MCAD’s HealthPartners benefits, offers virtual visits for conditions and treatments including asthma, allergies, reproductive health/birth control, bladder infections (UTI), breast infections/mastitis, cough/cold, ear infections, children's health, mouth/cold sores, pink eye/conjunctivitis, STI/STD (sexually transmitted infections/diseases), sinus infections, skin and nail infections/conditions, yeast infections, and more. This applies to all commercial fully insured plans (not just MCAD's plans). Virtuwell has also launched a FREE online assessment for COVID-19 to help you determine if they should seek care or not. Anyone can actually do the assessment, even if you are not currently covered by HealthPartners benefits:https://blog.virtuwell.com/coronavirus-assessment.
Doctor on Demand: Doctor on Demand offers virtual visits for conditions and treatments including health issues and mental health care. Like Virtuwell, Doctor on Demand can provide treatment for a myriad of other conditions including: asthma, allergies, rash, cold/cough, influenza (flu), nasal congestion, sore throat, bladder infections (UTI), acid reflex, acne, allergic reactions, animal bites, cold/canker sores, diabetes, diarrhea, dizziness, earache, eczema, eye issues, fever, gout, hair loss, headache/migraine, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, ingrown nails, insect bites/stings, insomnia, pain (muscle, joint, stomach, tooth, etc.), nail fungus, shortness of breath, skin infection, smoking cessation, STI/STD (sexually transmitted infections/diseases), thyroid issues, vomiting, weight loss management, yeast infections, and more.
