Anti-Hazing

MCAD is dedicated to fostering a safe and respectful campus environment for all members of our community. In line with this commitment, MCAD maintains a zero-tolerance policy for hazing in all its forms. This policy is a cornerstone of our efforts to ensure our students’ safety and compliance with critical state and federal laws, including the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act) and the Stop Campus Hazing Act (SCHA).

Hazing is any intentional, knowing, or reckless act that a person or group commits against another person, with or without their consent, that: is a condition of recruitment, initiation, admission, or affiliation for new or continued membership with a group, team, or organization, and creates a risk, above the reasonable risk encountered in the course of participation in institution or organization activities, of physical or psychological injury.

All allegations of hazing are addressed promptly and thoroughly through a coordinated response involving the appropriate campus offices. Any reports of hazing will be investigated as a code-of-conduct violation per theStudent Handbook. Students found in violation of this policy will be subject to disciplinary procedures and sanctions. MCAD will not tolerate retaliation against a student or member of the community who raises genuine concerns in good faith.

Any person with knowledge of activity or conduct that may constitute hazing is strongly encouraged to report their concerns to the VP of Student Affairs or Senior Director of Human Resources.
