Welcome to MCAD!

Parking

Navigating your way around our campus can be daunting. To make your parking experience as smooth as possible, whether you’re coming to campus as a student, employee or visitor, we have developed a number of tools to help make your visit seamless. We are available Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., to assist any students, guests, faculty or staff with parking information, questions or challenges. After 3:30 p.m., basic parking and emergency services can still be rendered through our 24-hour Campus Safety Office at 612-874-3555.

Transportation

Minneapolis is known for its excellent public transportation, and members of the MCAD community take advantage of it daily. Rated as one of the bike-friendliest cities in the country, those without cars have no problems getting around thanks to numerous safe, affordable, and green-minded options. And in case you were wondering, biking trails are always plowed within twenty-four hours of snowfall so it is possible to bike year-round.

Bicycle Registration Information

Campus Safety encourages your participation in a free bicycle registration program designed to reduce criminal opportunity on campus. Having a serial number on file facilitates the identification of a bike's rightful owner. If your bike is stolen and you can't identify it, you will have little chance of recovering it even if the thief is caught. Complete this registration form to register your bike. You can also register your bike with the City of Minneapolis at: http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/bicycles/ga/WCMS1P-135608

Bus and Light Rail

Metro Transit is one of the country's largest transit systems, offering an integrated network of 130 bus routes, 2 light rail lines, and a 40-mile commuter train, as well as resources for those who carpool, walk, and bike. Discounted MetroTransit Passes—good for unlimited bus and light rail rides during the semester—are available starting the week before each semester. Stop by the Art Cellar or call 612.874.3775 to purchase a pass.

Bike and Scooter Share

Through the equitable distribution of shared electric bicycles and scooters, Lime aims to reduce dependence on automobiles for short distance transportation, leaving a cleaner, healthier planet.

Car Share

MCAD is a hub for HOURCAR, a non-profit car company for hourly rentals. Available cars can be found on the alley side of the 2537 Apartment Building and checked out by members on a scheduled basis.
