SU Mission

MCAD’s Student Union (SU) is run by students, for students. SU serves as a forum for the expression of student views and enables students to participate in College governance by providing a voice for student goals and concerns. Any credit-earning student is automatically a part of SU, you just have to show up!

Student Union(SU) Representatives

The Student Union(SU) Representatives serve as the voice of the student body, and are responsible for organizing and running meetings, building initiatives which support the student experience, and collaborating with leadership, department heads, and other student focused groups on campus. The Student Union is comprised of Student Representatives from a wide range of undergraduate departments, as well as the MFA program. In addition to their weekly meetings, SU Reps organize town hall meetings with leadership, attend board meetings, and actively pursues ways to elevate student voices, and connect the administration and students.

Meetings

The SU hosts meetings every Wednesday from 12-1pm in the Emeritus Room(Main 201). Unless otherwise noted, these meeting are open to all students to attend in person or via this Student Union Meeting Link (with adjustments for larger campus events, semester breaks, and private meetings of the SU and leadership). Come hear what the SU Reps are working on, add your voice to the conversation or raise a concern. Anyone can add an item for discussion on the agenda. Have a question about how to access campus resources? Ask the Student Union! Have a great idea to improve the student experience on campus? Tell your SU Reps!  To add an agenda item in advance of a meeting, please email Kate Gunther(kgunther@mcad.edu), Student Experience Coordinator.

SU Funding and Funding Proposals

SU is allotted funds each semester for student-run activities and programs. These funds come from the student activities portion of your tuition. To receive funds, complete the Student Union Funding Proposal Form

Funding Proposals can take the form of Club or General Proposals(non-club related student events), each of which are eligible for up to $200. Active clubs are allotted $200 per semester to fund club events and meetings, advertising costs, or other long-term expenses. These funds can NOT be used for personal work or classwork.

Once you have completed the form, you will be contacted by the Student Experience Coordinator to set up a time to present your proposal for approval. You can present your funding request either before the Student Union at a weekly meeting, or in a meeting with the Student Experience Coordinator. Once approved, you will be issued paperwork for funding dispersal either via cash or direct deposit. Funding requests can take several weeks to approve and process so plan accordingly. You are responsible for providing receipts for the use of your funding by the end of each semester.
