Employees may be granted up to sixteen hours per year to attend school conferences or school-related activities of their children, provided these activities cannot be scheduled during non-work hours. If an employee’s child receives child care services or attends a prekindergarten regular or special-education program, employees may use this leave time to attend a related conference or activity, or to observe and monitor the services or program, provided the conference, activity, or observation cannot be scheduled during non-work hours. Employees may use accrued vacation time for these activities if they wish to be paid for the time taken; otherwise, the time taken will be unpaid. An employee must give reasonable notice of the intended leave to their supervisor so that any disruptions resulting from their absence can be minimized.
