Student Housing

MCAD provides student housing in apartment buildings on campus. All apartment units are self-contained living spaces with private baths and kitchens and are furnished. Students provide their own bedding, cooking utensils and cleaning supplies. Utilities, internet, and free use of laundry machines are included in the rent costs. Each building has a Resident Assistant to assist residents and organize social and informational meetings.

Housing spaces are assigned for the full academic year. When an application is made for housing, the Students must pay a one-time housing commitment deposit of $350, refundable when the student permanently vacates College housing if terms of the housing contract have been honored. Housing fees are due at posted deadlines along with all tuition and fees.

Beginning with the entering Fall 2023 first-year class, MCAD requires all full-time, first-time undergraduate students to live on campus in MCAD Student Housing. In Fall 2024, a Two-Year Residency Requirement will begin and all full-time freshmen and sophomore undergraduates will be required to live on campus.

Exemptions to the required residency policy may be requested and will be reviewed by committee. Exemption requests that may be considered are a documented medical condition, signed by a medical professional; cultural or religious; married; is a custodial parent or has caregiver responsibilities; age 21 or older in first or second year of undergraduate program; is a junior or senior at MCAD. To request an exemption to the required housing policy, please refer to the form on my.MCAD.edu, under the Student Life tab.

Resources

MCAD recognizes the importance of healthy eating and easy access to food for academic success for students. While MCAD's residential apartments provide fully equipped kitchens, MCAD also has an on-campus cafe serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks on weekdays during the academic year. To promote healthy eating habits, resident students are required to purchase a $1,400 per semester declining balance food plan to be used in the MCAD Cafe. The plan will be charged each semester along with tuition and MCAD apartment rent. Student's may choose to add additional funds to the minimum plan.
