SELF CARE:
Strong social connections and recognizing the support people you can lean on, can be a great source of strength in difficult times. Getting involved to build community by joining a club or attending events can help reduce feelings of isolation, stress, and anxiety. Also, be proactive about taking care of yourself is important:
- Choose food that spans the rainbow and favor fresh over processed
- Add helpful routines to support consistent sleep
- Find creative ways to move your body; kitchen dance party, walk the quad, etc.
- Make an appointment to see a mental health counselor on campus or check in with safe staff or faculty member
We recognize that the current climate in Minnesota has created real concerns for many in our community that reach outside the classroom. Whether you are carrying the weight of added stress and worry or just trying to stay grounded, we encourage you to prioritize what helps you feel safe and supported. This may include reaching out to a trusted friend, making use of MCAD and community resources, or taking time to just pause and reset. Please know that your safety and well-being remain important as we navigate this semester together. Please don't hesitate to email studentcounseling@mcad.edu with needs and concerns.
