Campus Safety Update: Recent Threat Reports and Safety Measures

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

Over the past two weeks, Campus Safety received two separate threats via email alleging explosive devices on campus. Both reports were promptly investigated and determined to be hoaxes. Several other higher education institutions in the region received similar hoax messages during this time. In each instance, Minneapolis Police Department responded and worked closely with Campus Safety to assess the situation. In addition, information from the incidents was shared with the FBI.

We recognize that this has been an unsettling time for many in our community. At no time was a credible or actionable threat identified. We want to reassure you that the college has established processes in place to evaluate all threats quickly and respond appropriately.

How you can help:

  • If you receive a concerning message or observe suspicious activity, contact Campus Safety immediately at 612-874-3801.
  • Be mindful about sharing unverified information, as speculation and rumors can unintentionally increase anxiety.

We appreciate the community’s cooperation.

Sincerely,
Pam Hoffmann
Director of Campus Safety
