By now many of you already know that Alicia Kuri Alamillo has left her position as Student Life Specialist. Alicia was in Student Affairs for two years and did tremendous work to support MCAD's international students and students who study off campus. She brought creativity and empathy to everything she did and was deeply committed to making Student Affairs and the MCAD community a better place.
I would also like to introduce you to Sofia Cordoba Valencia, MCAD's new Student Life Specialist, focusing on support for international students and off-campus study. She has a B.A. in Global Studies from Carnegie Mellon and has a strong background in resident life and student wellness. Please join me in welcoming Sofia to MCAD!
Alicia will be staying on in the short term to help with the transition. Thank you Alicia for all you have done and continue to do for MCAD and the students!
Another big change-- After eight and half years Becky Bates will be leaving her position of Director of Career Development. Becky has done tremendous work in the Careers department. She has worked diligently for current students and alumni as they navigate their careers and has brought so much enthusiasm and dedication to all she does for the department. Her hard work (and a ton of ideas!) has set the foundation for the next chapter of the Careers department. Becky's last day will be Friday, July 31. Thank you Becky for all you have done for Career Development and MCAD!
And so, I would like to congratulate Sam Wencl on her promotion to Director of Career Development! Sam has worked with Becky the past eight and half years and is excited about the possibilities for the future of the department. Congratulations, Sam!!
