Crime Alert/Safety Bulletin: Armed Robbery

On Friday, August 14, 2026, at approximately 9:40 p.m., an armed robbery was reported to MCAD Campus Safety. The incident occurred in the vestibule of a campus residence hall.

At approximately 9:31 p.m., two individuals were walking westbound on 26th St. E when a black Chevrolet sedan with a non-functioning left headlight slowed alongside them. The vehicle contained two men dressed in dark clothing. One of the men followed the two individuals into the residence hall vestibule after they entered the building. The individual was described as a light-skinned male, approximately 6 feet tall with a slim build. He was wearing a mask, a black hoodie with flame decals on the sleeves, dark skinny jeans, and dark Jordan-style sneakers. The individual was brandishing what appeared to be a black firearm.

The individual demanded the victims' purses, phones, and money before leaving the building and returning to the waiting vehicle. The vehicle was last observed traveling westbound on 26th St. E past Nicollet Avenue.

The Minneapolis Police Department responded and is investigating the incident. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, observed suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident, or may have information about the individuals or vehicle described above is encouraged to contact Campus Safety or the Minneapolis Police Department.
