Follow-Up Regarding Recent Threatening Email

Dear MCAD Community,

Yesterday, we shared information about a threatening email that had been received by several members of the MCAD community and reported to law enforcement.

Since then, we have learned from the FBI and our law enforcement partners that similar messages were sent to multiple institutions across the region and appear to be part of a broader swatting or hoax effort. At this time, there is no known credible threat to the MCAD campus.

We appreciate the quick response and partnership of law enforcement as they investigated the situation, and we thank our community members for their patience and cooperation.

Although this message now appears to have been part of a coordinated hoax, we will always take reports of potential threats seriously and respond immediately to protect the safety of our campus community.

If you receive threatening messages or observe suspicious activity, please continue to report it to Campus Safety at 612-874-3801 or campus_safety@mcad.edu.

Thank you again for your vigilance and care for one another.

Sincerely,
Pam Hoffmann
