Dear MCAD Community,
I want to take a moment to share my deep gratitude for the opportunity to serve as your president and for the privilege of working alongside such a thoughtful, creative, and committed community.
These past six years have been transformative. Together we faced moments of real uncertainty, from a global pandemic to the shifting landscape of higher education and the arts. And yet, time and again, this community met those challenges with integrity, care, and imagination. I am proud of what we accomplished and for the shared vision, dedication, and resilience of MCAD’s faculty, staff, students, and partners who worked to help shape creative leaders and cultural change-makers.
Back in April 2020, in the depths of the pandemic, I closed a community message with a Zulu proverb that continues to guide me:
“Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu” — a person is a person because of people.
It feels fitting to return to those words now. MCAD is a remarkable place because of each of you and because of all of us.
As I leave MCAD and embark on a new opportunity working on transformative international education, I will be rooting for MCAD’s continued success and evolution from a distance but with abiding admiration. Thank you for sharing with me your trust, your challenges, your insights, and your unwavering belief in the power of creativity to change lives.
All my best,
Sanjit
