Hiring: Undergraduate Peer Mentors (2026–2027)

The Undergraduate Peer Mentor Program is seeking student leaders for the 2026–2027 academic year! Peer Mentors are paid student leaders who help first-year students transition to life at MCAD through community building, resource sharing, and mentorship. Mentors also serve as the fall semester Orientation Leaders.

APPLICATION TIMELINE

  • Priority Deadline: Friday, April 17th @ 11:59 PM CST

  • Interviews: Week of May 4th (Virtual or In-Person)

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Mentors provide a pathway to success through weekly emails, events, and face-to-face meetings. Key duties include:

  • Mentorship: Weekly communication with mentees via email and Canvas.

  • Events: Planning, promoting, and implementing social and educational events.

  • Resource Sharing: Connecting students with MCAD resources and activities.

  • Leadership: Serving as an Orientation Leader and attending bi-weekly staff meetings.

  • Professionalism: Representing MCAD’s values as a student ambassador.

REQUIRED TRAINING DATES

  • Early August: 3-hour virtual meeting (Date TBD).

  • August 17-21, 2026: In-person Peer Mentor Training (Full days).

  • August 22-23, 2026: In-person Fall Orientation.

  • These dates are subject to change

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Status: Current degree-seeking undergraduate student (Rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior).

  • GPA: Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.

  • Commitment: Must be at MCAD for the entire 2026–2027 academic year (not studying abroad or graduating in December).

  • Skills: Self-motivated, positive attitude, strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated leadership potential, and a desire to help peers succeed in a diverse environment.

COMPENSATION & TIME COMMITMENT 

  • Pay: $16.37/hr.

  • Weekly: 4 to 6 hours on average.

  • Training Week: ~40 hours during Fall Training/Orientation.

  • Funding: Open to both Federal Work-Study and Casual Labor.
    Note: If you have Work-Study, this position will typically utilize your full allotment for the school year.
