This Sunday, September 13, we will be performing some firmware and system software updates on a number of network switches across our infrastructure.
This will be disruptive in regard to service access during the outage window, and will affect all of MCAD's campus.
Date: Sunday, September 13, 2026
Time: 8:00 a.m. start
Estimated End Time: 11:00 a.m.
Schedule Outline:
- Core Switches in 227
- Core Switches in Data Center 1st Set
- Core Switches in Data Center 2nd Set
- And if there is time a few other distribution switches will also be updated. These are ancillary, and primarily affect classrooms and locations not utilized on the weekends.
Services Affected: Most network access and related services will be intermittent during these upgrades. Please expect things to be inconsistent or to not be available during the outage window for the affected services - which includes, printing, file/folder access, my.mcad.edu, myaid.mcad.edu, and internet access across campus. This includes both ethernet, and wireless connectivity.
Work Completion: Once the work is completed - we will send a notification out via Omnilert to communicate that the work is completed. We would ask that you reboot any device that is having issues, before opening a ticket with the Helpdesk.
These updates are being performed to bring the switches to update their operating system version, and to ensure they are patched for security reasons.
