A platformwide security breach was reported May 1st at Instructure, the company who provides the cloud-based Canvas learning management system for many institutions, including MCAD.
While MCAD does not own or host this platform, we are sending this communication to ensure that you are informed of what occurred.
While their investigation is still ongoing, at this stage they have told us the compromised data is believed to only include users’ names and institutional email, student ID numbers, and messages between users.
MCAD staff are actively monitoring our Canvas environment for any abnormal behavior. We are in communication with Instructure and will be in touch with any relevant or new information as it becomes available.
