Reserving a Space for Finals; Students and Classes

Hello everyone! Happy (almost) Spring;

With the space needed for Spring 2025's commencement, installation space reservations will look different this year. Here is what you need to know:

FOR STUDENTS

Space reservations are limited on the fourth floor with two additional floating walls. Spaces are limited to one space per person, per class. If you would like a space for a class critique, you will have the reserved space from the day of your reservation (beginning at midnight) and ending after your class is done.

Example: I have a class on Wednesday, so I can start installing Wednesday morning and will have my work deinstalled the evening after my class.

You are responsible for taking your work down by the end of the day to allow for the next reservation to install. Please come in person to see what spaces are available, our office is open M-F 8:30-4pm. If you do not remove your work and there is an installation behind your reservation, unclaimed work will be placed on the tables in the 225 studios (there is a sign for this area as well.) If your installation begins the following day but you see after 6pm that your spot is open, you may begin installing.

FOR CLASSES

Gallery 148 starting Thursday, April 1st will be available for class critiques. These reservations are for the day of your class only, so at the end of your class, students are required to remove their installations. The next reservation is able to install the following day (starting at midnight.) Any unclaimed work will be placed on the tables in the 225 studios.

PATCHING BETWEEN RESERVATIONS

Due to the quick turnaround, ESS cannot guarantee spaces will be patched between each day of reservations. Our team will do walkthroughs in the AM of the following days, so holes will be addressed then. When you are installing your work, be sure to indicate that the wall is dry before installing on a potentially wet wall (a damp wall is shiny, cold, or tacky). A patched/painted wall dries within an hour or so.

You may reserve a space as soon as you receive this email, so either email us or stop by to get started. Any further questions can be forwarded to Exhibition and Studio Services!

All the best,
Lynaea
