SAFETY BULLETIN: Motor Vehicle Theft, Reported 5/13/26

On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at approximately 3:35 p.m., a resident student reported a motor vehicle theft to MCAD Campus Safety. The vehicle, described as a green Subaru Impreza, had been parked on Stevens Avenue near campus.

The student reported last seeing the vehicle at approximately 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026. After discovering the vehicle was no longer present, the student checked with the Minneapolis impound lot due to nearby street paving activity and confirmed the vehicle had not been towed. A police report has since been filed.

Campus Safety reviewed available camera footage from the area; however, the location where the vehicle was parked was outside the effective view of campus cameras, and no additional details are available at this time.

Anyone who believes they may have observed suspicious activity or unusual behavior in the area between the evening of May 11 and the afternoon of May 13 is encouraged to contact Campus Safety.

Safety Tips:
  • Remove valuables and garage door openers from your vehicle when unattended
  • Double-check that doors are locked and windows are fully closed
  • Consider parking in well-lit, highly visible areas whenever possible
  • If available, use anti-theft devices or vehicle tracking technology
  • Pay attention to temporary parking restrictions, construction notices, and towing signage
  • Report suspicious activity or safety concerns to Campus Safety at (612) 874-3555

This message is intended to promote safety on campus and comply, in part, with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act. For more information on campus crime and safety, please contact Campus Safety’s non-emergency line at (612) 874-3801.
