SAFETY BULLETIN: Vandalism to Motor Vehicle Near Campus

On Sunday, June 28, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m., MCAD Campus Safety received a report from a student that their vehicle had been vandalized while parked on 3rd Avenue South near campus.

The student reported discovering damage to the rear driver's side window on the morning of June 28 and believed the vehicle had been entered. At the time of the report, nothing appeared to be missing from the vehicle, and the student had filed a police report.

Campus Safety is not aware of any additional vehicles that have been reported damaged in the immediate area. Anyone who believes they may have observed suspicious activity or unusual behavior in the area during the overnight hours of June 27–28 is encouraged to contact Campus Safety.

Safety Tips:

  • Lock your vehicle and ensure all windows are fully closed before leaving it unattended.
  • Remove or conceal valuables, electronics, bags, and other items that may attract attention.
  • Park in well-lit, high-visibility areas whenever possible.
  • Consider using a vehicle alarm or other theft-deterrent device if available.
  • If you observe suspicious activity around parked vehicles, contact Campus Safety immediately at (612) 874-3555 or call 911 if a crime is in progress.
  • If your vehicle is damaged, report the incident promptly to both the Minneapolis Police Department and Campus Safety.
