Safety Bulletin--Vehicle Break-Ins

Between 7/14/25 and 7/16/25, MCAD Campus Safety was alerted to multiple vehicles near or on campus having windows broken out on them.  The morning of 7/15/25, 13 cars in the temporary MFA lot were found with damage.  At this time, none of the vehicles involved appear to be affiliated with our MFA program.

On the morning of 7/16/25, four vehicles in Lot C were damaged around 3:40 a.m.  In reviewing footage, it appears  three individuals entered the lot from the west, and proceeded to break windows on vehicles and use a flashlight to look for anything of value.  All three individuals were wearing all black, though one had a white stripe up the outside of their pant legs, and another person was wearing a white mask of some sort.  They were dropped off by a dark color SUV Crossover vehicle, and upon leaving the area, the vehicle drove the wrong way (east) on 26th St E., before heading north on 3rd Ave.

At 0730 the morning of 7/16/25, Campus Safety also observed multiple vehicles on Stevens Ave between 24th St. E and 26th St. E with broken windows, which likely happened in the same timeframe as the vehicles in Lot C. Campus Safety has reached out to the individuals parked on campus, and has notified Minneapolis Pol

If you discover that your vehicle parked on Stevens Ave. has sustained window damage, please contact Minneapolis Police at 311 to file a report.  Be mindful to not leave valuables in your vehicle and/or in plain sight to reduce the likelihood of your vehicle being a target.
