Title IX Spring 2025

On January 9, 2025, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky ruled that the Biden administration's Title IX Final Rule is unconstitutional for all schools nationwide. As a result of this decision, MCAD will withdraw its current Title IX policy. In the interim and on advice from our legal counsel, MCAD will reinstate the 2020 Title IX Regulations to ensure compliance with federal requirements.

In addition to Title IX, MCAD is actively reviewing its own sexual misconduct policy, which addresses misconduct and harassment that fall outside the scope of Title IX.

Faculty and staff will remain mandatory reporters. Once updates to this policy are finalized, they will be shared with the community and made available online.

MCAD remains committed to providing support, resources, and an effective response to all members of our campus community. Our efforts will continue under the 2020 Title IX Regulations and the MCAD Sexual Harassment Policy.

At this time, there has been no guidance from the Department of Education or the current administration on how to proceed regarding the scope of Title IX or the handling of complaints. Updates will be shared as they become available. If you have any questions, please reach out to Student Affairs or Human Resources.

Thank you for your attention and understanding as we navigate these changes.
