Seeking MCAD community member input! MACL student art installation 'In Community: Holding Space at MCAD'
Hello MCAD community!
My name is Hedwig Vinson, and I am a student in MCAD's Master of Arts in Creative Leadership. Throughout my studies in this program, I've been deeply thinking about what it is to have a community here at MCAD, and how we come together to hold space for each other – both as an institution, and as a community of artists and creatives who have gathered because of this place.
For my capstone project that is meant to be a phase 1 of a community-driven change project, I've created an art piece as a meeting place for us all, whether on campus or afar. It is called, "In Community: Holding Space at MCAD."
This is an art installation that has both a physical presence on campus, and a digital presence in the form of the following website: holdingspaceatmcad.com.
This website will serve as the landing place for our community stories and thoughts, and as a way for those who aren't on campus during the summer of 2024 to engage. Additionally, postings from the website will be shared in the on-campus show as I artist-moderate this piece.
How to interact with this piece:
Share your stories and thoughts, in whatever mode you feel appropriate. The moments you felt seen, felt cared for, felt inspired. Felt betrayed, let down, and even apathetic about it all. What do you need from your community right now to be seen? For all the stories that had nowhere to go – Tell us. I’ll hold this space for you.

The on-campus portion of the show runs from July 4th – August 4th.
