Job Title: Exhibit Fabrication Intern
Organization Name: Minnesota Children's Museum
Wage/Salary: $16.37/hr
Opportunity Summary: Minnesota Children's Museum's downtown St. Paul location has 74,000 square feet of exhibits space, in addition to being a leading producer of exhibit rentals for children's museums and having the largest collection of traveling exhibits on the road. The Exhibit Fabrication Intern will assist exhibit production staff in the fabrication and design of exhibits, installation of exhibitions, and exhibit repair and maintenance. Interns will be given the opportunity to exercise and strengthen their existing skills, to develop new skills of exhibit making, and to exercise responsibility, creativity and imagination. The internship requires hours to be completed at the museum.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have working knowledge and experience with power and hand tools and the ability to use them safely. (Examples: table saw, band saw, routers, miter saw, drills, etc. Prior carpentry and machine shop experience a plus.)
Working knowledge of CAD and CNC machines. Services and materials like photos and illustrated images, text is a plus.
Basic knowledge of cleaning supplies and their safe usage.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more on an occasional basis.

Job Title: Editorial Intern

Opportunity Summary: The paid position involves fact checking; participating in research projects; managing our online events calendar; and writing and editing for Mpls.St.Paul Magazine, Mpls.St.Paul Home & Design, and mspmag.com. Interns finesse research and reporting/editing skills and get an inside look at the workings of a monthly publication and daily website and newsletter. We want our interns to leave the internship program with an understanding of both print and digital publishing platforms, which is crucial in today’s job market. Candidate must be pursuing or have graduated with an English/ journalism/communications major or minor, or have related experience. Eagerness, a willingness to learn, and an interest in magazines is a must. Experience at a student publication and/or other publications is preferred.

Collaborate with New Product Development, Manufacturing, Engineering, Creative, Marketing, and Sales departments.
Support project manager with existing projects by scheduling and attending meetings, completing action items, charting timelines, and preparing documentation.
Utilize organization skills to keep track of ongoing projects.
Document procedures for the new product development process.
Perform other duties as assigned.
