Teaching and Learning Excellence

Department Mission

Teaching and Learning Excellence supports the MCAD community in Instructional Design, applications of instructional technology, and the use of High-Impact Learning Practices through an Ethics of Care to support student success and belonging.

Portfolio of Services

Design for Learning
TLE provides development support for new or revised courses, a deep catalog of frequently updated asynchronous resources, and faculty consultations.

Educational Technologies
TLE administers the Canvas Learning Management System, providing technical and pedagogical support for faculty, students, and community members. We create guidance resources and consult on the use of teaching and learning technologies.

Student Support
TLE works with curricular leaders and support areas to discuss ways to infuse High-Impact Learning Practices and an Ethics of Care (Kuh, 2012; Noddings, 1984) to scaffold student success. We create and curate an array of resources on topics like accessibility in education, inclusive teaching practices, and research-driven pedagogy.

Professional Practice
TLE works to synthesize critical information from our partners in curricular leadership and across the college, to better support faculty when and where it's most needed.
