Through a grant opportunity provided by Hennepin County, the Facilities department at MCAD was able to purchase new equipment and materials to further our sustainability goals for recycling and composting.
In addition to the current composting options in the restrooms, cafeteria, and in Morrison, a compost bin is available by each elevator in the Main Building.
Composting is now also available for students living in the dorms! This opt-in program is available starting the first day of the Spring 2016 semester, Tuesday, January 19th.
Interested students should sign up at Student Affairs, Monday through Friday, anytime between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Following sign-up, see your Residential Advisor for your composting bin, compost bags, and informational brochure. This brochure contains helpful information about maintaining your compost.
The recycling, trash, and compost posters will be updated across campus to reflect updated information and design for clarity.
This opportunity could not have been possible without the assistance and dedication by Facilities, Housing, Sustainability Environmental Action Committee, DesignWorks, Waste Management, and Hennepin County.
