Campus Safety Updates

Dear MCAD Community,

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing a safe and welcoming environment for everyone who studies, works, and visits our campus, we are updating several campus safety procedures.

Building Access

Beginning Monday, December 1, 2025, the main (north) entrance will be locked at all times. Students, faculty, and staff will continue to have 24/7 access using their MCAD ID cards. Visitors will request entry through the intercom at the entrance, and Campus Safety staff will be available around the clock to assist.

While this change adds an additional layer of security, it’s to ensure that everyone in our community feels both safe and supported.

Emergency Notification System

Last month, MCAD transitioned Omnilert, our campus emergency alert platform, to an opt-out system. You should have received a test notification by phone, email, or both. Your previous opt-in account has been removed; you will now log in through OneLogin using your regular MCAD credentials.

As long as your information is current in Paylocity (for faculty/staff) or Jenzabar (for students), your contact details will automatically populate into Omnilert. No action is required. If you believe you accidentally opted out of receiving notifications or are experiencing issues, please contact me or Tamra Morehouse (tmorehouse@mcad.edu).

Campus Privacy and Immigration Policy

MCAD is committed to protecting the rights and privacy of all members of our community, including students, faculty, and staff, regardless of immigration status. Our policy outlines the steps to follow if Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or other external law enforcement agencies come to campus. Recently, we completed a review of this policy to make sure it continues to reflect our values and responsibil ities.

If you have questions or would like to share feedback on any of these updates, please feel free to contact me at phoffmann@mcad.edu.

Warm regards,
Pam Hoffmann
Director of Campus Safety
